Welcome to the 4th Summer Hoops Basketball League . . .
We have learnt a lot over the past 3 years of organising
the summer league, and we aim to use this experience to
improve the event every year. Join us again for an action
packed summer of basketball at... Summer Hoops 2010!
The 2010 format remains the same as previous years, being a
full league with games taking place on Wednesday evening's
at the Cougars court (Castle Rock High School) throughout
the summer (first night will be 19th
May). The
handicap system that worked very well in 2007 and 2008 was
not as effective in 2009, and due to feedback from
participating teams, we will remove the handicap system for
Summer Hoops 2010.
As always the enthisis is on having fun, making new friends
and getting plenty of good Basketball action.
Coalville Basketball Club would like to thank
everyone that took part in the 2009 event, the teams, officials
and especially the volunteers. Without their support
the league just couldn't take place. We would also like to
thank 2009 sponsors,
Deep2
Basketball for their support.

"Thank you very much for organising the Summer Hoops
tournament. This is the first time that we have been
involved and found it competitive and enjoyable. We
definitely would like to enter a team again next year" -
Nigel Reeves, Gateway A (Summer Hoops 2009)
"Another Summer League well organised as usual,
especially considering all the logistical issues! Looking
forward to the return of the finals day next summer with
hopefully more teams and games for everyone. Keep up the
good work and see you next summer!" -
Ian Thompson, Bosworth Blazers (Summer Hoops 2009)
"Summer Hoops 2007 was a great way to stay involved and play
some basketball over the summer months. Coalville
had everything really well organised, all we had to do was
turn up and play. We're looking forward to Summer Hoops
2008!" - Richard Hall, Bos-Hurst
United (Summer Hoops 2007)
"I think summer hoops was a brilliant idea. The guys that
came over with me thought so too, we all enjoyed playing
competitive games with a great friendly atmosphere"
- Paul Hodgkinson,
Melton (Summer Hoops 2007)
"A nice friendly competition to be involved in, the summer
hoops competition gave us the opportunity to keep playing as
a team through the summer months and allowed us to mix and
chat with players from teams in different divisions. A must
in our basketball calendar" - Jez Chapman, Rawlins A
(Summer Hoops 2007)
"From a referees perspective the 2007 Summer Hoops
competition was very enjoyable to be a part of. The
organization of each week’s games was friendly and efficient
with quality table officials there all the time and some
good social times in the Forest Rock at the end of each evening. Also
the games were played in a great spirit by all
teams that were involved which made the time out on court
great too. The points handicap system worked well, with the
so called ‘weaker’ teams starting their games with a lead
which certainly made for some competitive and close
finishes. Overall I would recommend the Coalville Summer
Hoops Tournament as a good event to be involved in to both
teams and referees" - David
Geary, Referee (Summer Hoops 2007)
